REALLY ready for change?

June 27, 2007 by Shanti Mai

I will change my Green & Democrat voting record, happily, this time, and vote for Ron Paul, if given a chance. Don’t be fooled by the partisan blather that says only Democrats have spoken out against the Iraq war. Ron Paul has not only spoken out, but has voted against it, as well. He’s a sane politician in a time of madness. He can’t be bought, and he’s served 3 terms, so we’ve had a chance to see him ACT on his principles. Count me in!

Waterlily left today

At Waterlily’s yard sale:

“A free spirit?” the woman asked helpfully, as I tried to explain why she needn’t worry about Waterlily, who was selling her belongings (well, mostly giving them away), and flying away to literally live ON the beach on Kauai.

“Waterlily”, I explained to the woman, “is in better off than anyone I know. She’s unnerving to you in the way that St. Francis was to those in his neighborhood. But St. Francis didn’t need their help. Quite the contrary, we’re still looking to him. Waterlily is like that….”

And I have a standing invitation to join her on the beach!

half full

Like a broken record, there are some people whose negativity is not surprising. There is never any change to the sound track that accompanies their presence: rampant health complaints, and/or a never-ending sad saga involving an unending supply of “perpetrators” - landlords, neighbors, you-name-it. Small wonder that their lives are filled with things to complain about; they never cease to practice the art of complaining and are very sure of their starring role as Victim.

I try to remember these few dreary-dramatic types when I hear myself describe the glass as half empty….

…and I also remind myself of those who REALLY have cause to complain, but never do, and who attract loving and strong friends because of it.

There’s magic - and magnetism - in those whose glasses are half full.
